On behalf of Atkins, we were instructed to find and acquire six sites suitable for use as highways salt storage depots, so they were able to fulfil the contract to provide highways maintenance in East Anglia.

Acquisitions were to be completed in a three month time period in order to meet Atkins contract terms. Atkins required good road links in Colchester, Ipswich, King’s Lynn, Mildenhall, Norwich and Wisbech.

They needed approximately one acre of hard standing with fencing and water and electricity supply. Seven year leases were required with a tenant’s break in the sixth and seventh year.

Working to tight timescales

Our in-depth knowledge of the local markets enabled quick and thorough site searches. We identified several sites in each location and agreed terms in each location by Atkins’ deadline.

We worked closely with Atkins to understand the requirements and to provide advice on the various site options. Negotiations were conducted on their behalf, securing the sites below the budgeted rents and on the terms requested.
