LSH has made clients aware of the important consultations on planning policy being undertaken by South Gloucestershire Council.

The authority’s Proposed Submission Draft of its ‘Policies, Sites and Places Plan’ is undergoing a statutory consultation ending on July 3.

It will influence the location of development and the direction of growth for years to come, according to Marcus Plaw, planning director of LSH in Bristol and the South West.

He is urging developers and land owners to consider the plan and submit representations to ensure that it is effective in delivering much-needed development across the region.

Marcus said: “The Policies, Sites and Places Plan will form a key part of South Gloucestershire’s Local Plan which sits aside the Core Strategy and will be used for development control to 2027.

“The policies contained within it are wide-ranging and will influence how land and buildings will change in urban and rural areas.  Landowners and developers should use the coming days to consider carefully whether the plan will help deliver positive benefits.”

The consultation is also seeking comments on land allocations for a variety of uses to support sustainable communities.

Marcus added: “Allocations are proposed in the plan in main urban and more rural settlements for housing and employment to support and sustain local economies.  This consultation presents the opportunity to assess whether these allocations and policies are ‘sound’ by reviewing them against four key tests.

“Time before the end of the consultation should be used by interested parties such as landowners and developers to consider the plan and provide helpful comments and recommendations.”
