Morrisons close to distribution deal with Ocado

Sources say supermarket chain Morrisons is close to a distribution deal with Ocado, the online supermarket. It is likely to be a joint venture deal and will not involve Morrisons taking a stake in Ocado or acquiring the firm. The plan would see Ocado use its new warehouse in Dordon to provide Morrisons' home shopping service.

TNT Post wins optometry delivery service contract from Leightons

Leightons Opticians has signed a contract with TNT Post for its optometry delivery service in the UK. Under the terms of the deal, opticians will be delivered business documentation, optical lenses and frames as well as medical specimens by TNT Post. Warburg Pincus considering sale of Poundland

Warburg Pincus, the US private equity firm, is reported to be considering plans to sell Poundland, the UK budget retail chain. Warburg Pincus paid £200m for Poundland in a secondary buyout in 2010. Poundland, which has 410 stores, is expected to fetch as much as £600m if sold. Read more...

Travis Perkins signs Warrington distribution centre deal

Travis Perkins has signed a deal to set up a new regional distribution centre in Warrington. The builders' merchant will take 700,000 sq ft of space at Omega, a mixed-used project backed by Miller Developments and KUC Properties. Read more...

Clipper Logistics signs distribution contract with Morrisons

A contract has been signed between Clipper Logistics and Morrisons, a supermarket chain, for the distribution of the March-launched Nutmeg clothing range. For this, Clipper is using a site in Leeds. The Morrisons contract includes picking of goods, the handling of returns, storage of flat and hanging garments, quality control, receipt and deliveries to Morrisons outlets. Read more...

Tesco to add third One Stop depot in Wakefield

UK supermarket retailer Tesco is to add a third depot for its One Stop convenience store chain, which will be located in Wakefield in West Yorkshire. The depot, which will cover an area of 120,000 sq ft, will initially supply 200 of the stores in the north of England, but this number will rise to around 500 over time.
