Acting on behalf of Tesco Stores Limited, we have completed a land deal in Southampton.
The deal will see a currently empty site be used for open storage and related transport activities for a growing multi-national business.
Open storage land on Mauretania Way, Nursling Industrial Estate, has been let to TITAN Boxtainer Ltd, part of TITAN Containers A/S Group of companies.
Southampton site part of growing UK network
The site, which is adjacent to the Tesco Distribution Centre, is to be used by TITAN for open storage of shipping containers with associated handling and crane transport.
In addition, TITAN will also develop a container ‘self-store’ on the site, with Southampton now adding to the company’s growing UK network which also includes Grays in Essex, Cambridge, Hull and Melton Mowbray – the latter site having also been negotiated by our Industrial and Logistics team.
Phil Brewer, UK Director for TITAN, commented: “We chose Nursling because the site was perfectly situated for our business, close to the M27/271 junction and the port of Southampton. It will be convenient for liner shipping, container transport operators and other related businesses, which include a number of our largest UK customers. For example, deliveries to and from Marchwood Port can be made without entering the Southampton Docks vicinity.”
Southampton site to service entire South Coast region
TITAN had used third party depots in Totton, Southampton, but after a number of years of suffering congestion and delays, the company made the decision to acquire a TITAN-operated site at Nursling.
Phil added: “This will benefit TITAN with reduced overall costs, and also our customers - with far better access and reduced turnaround time. Once our new container handler is operational for ‘depot’ work, our own HIAB crane lorry is offering local deliveries, and the ‘self-store’ is up and running, then Southampton will ably fill the role of TITAN’s Container Centre for the entire South Coast region.”
Nursling Industrial Estate attracting cargo and storage occupiers
Elise Evans, Surveyor in our South Coast Agency team, added: “Nursling Industrial Estate is a prominent estate just off the M271. Given that this is the main road leading to the Western Docks of Southampton, it has strong appeal to occupiers operating in cargo, storage and other such industries.”
LSH is also retained by Forelle Estates to market nearby unit 42a Oriana Way, a detached warehouse/industrial unit totalling 19,229 sq ft.
