Eastleigh warehouse space acquired

Find out more

Acting for James Hardie Building Products Ltd, we have acquired a 60,246 sq ft warehouse in Eastleigh.

James Hardie pioneered the development of fibre-cement technology in the mid 1980s, and began designing and manufacturing a wide range of fibre-cement building products.

International occupier expanding in the UK

The company has now acquired a new warehouse on Goodwood Road, Boyatt Wood Industrial Estate in Eastleigh, where it will expand from an adjacent 38,000 sq ft property on the estate.

The company also operates in markets around the world, with manufacturing operations in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines.

Location was key consideration

Adrian Whitfield, Director in our South Coast team, commented: “When acquiring suitable space, the main reason that this unit was selected was its location. Its close proximity to James Hardie’s existing site and its accessibility to the M3 and M27 made it ideal. Other prominent local occupiers include Elliott Insulation, Booker Cash and Carry, TDG Distribution, Lambert Brothers Haulage and Howdens Joinery.”

Expansion to support business growth

Damon McEwan, Logistics Manager UK at James Hardie, added: “This acquisition allows us to support our continued growth by capitalising on the site’s location between our two main European markets. Its close proximity to Southampton Container Port provides multiple benefits to our current operations.”

While our Industrial & Logistics Agency team has worked with James Hardie to advise on lease negotiations and acquire the new site, our Building Consultancy team has also overseen works at the client’s existing and new properties.
