Planning permission sought for rail freight terminal in Scotland

A planning application has been submitted to North Lanarkshire Council for a £250m International Railfreight Terminal, which would be constructed in central Scotland at the existing Mossend Railhead. Hermes to launch seven-day home delivery service

In a bid to grow its first-time delivery rate, UK-based B2C parcel carrier Hermes will be rolling out a seven-day home delivery service. Initially, the fully tracked Sunday deliveries will be facilitated for retail orders made on Saturdays. By 2014-end, Hermes plans to increase the number of ParcelShops to 5,000 from 3,500. Mothercare reportedly puts Early Learning Centre up for sale

The Early Learning Centre has been put up for sale by parent company Mothercare, according to reports. Mothercare is said to have hired investment bank Lazard to help dispose of the struggling toy retailer, which has 40 stores. Read more...

Tesco may bid for Mothercare

UK-based supermarket chain Tesco could launch a bid for baby products retailer Mothercare, which was valued at £241m earlier in January 2014. Tesco looked at a bid six months ago and City insiders say that interest could be revived by the fact Mothercare's share price has fallen to £2.72, from £4.20. Read more...
