Hackney Wick is one of London's fastest-growing and most innovative creative communities. Home of the emerging technology sector at iCITY, Techpark and the East London corridor, and with over 600 creative industry workspaces, Hackney Wick is home to more artists than anywhere else in Europe. Around this highly entrepreneurial community is a growing arts scene, with galleries, festivals, pop-ups and restaurants. 

Multi-million pound upgrade of Hackney Wick station

A multi-million-pound upgrade of Hackney Wick station has been secured by the London Legacy Development Corporation. This upgrade, which will be completed by 2016, will transform the area around the station. iCITY, the new digital quarter for London that will support the growth of digital and creative industries, will open in 2015 and is the new home of BT Sport. 

The area will be complemented by a range of retail outlets, focussing heavily on local producers, supporting the local creative community.  Hackney Wick and the neighbouring Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will be a vibrant, exciting destination that will offer business space, restaurants, new homes, cafés, shops and parklands, as well as a 6,000-seat multi-use venue.

London's most up-and-coming neighbourhood

“Our vision is for Hackney Wick to be a vibrant, mixed use area that, through sensitive refurbishment and development, retains its existing character, and is an attractive location for both businesses and residents.”

The London Legacy Development Corporation has launched a call for businesses, entrepreneurs and local people to come forward and submit their ideas and aspirations for the future of Hackney Wick.

Seeking responses by 30 November 2013

The Legacy Corporation is keen to work with both prospective and existing landowners and occupiers, and is seeking responses by 30 November 2013 to inform the first phase of work. The register will remain open throughout the master plan development.

Karakusevic Carson Architects and Witherford Watford Mann have been appointed by the London Legacy Development Corporation to develop a master plan, with LSH advising on delivery.
