LSH continues delivering building consultancy services on Grade I listed, Farnborough Hill Independent School
Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has been working with Farnborough Hill for more than 20 years, delivering building consultancy services on the Grade I listed property.
Farnborough Hill Independent School
- Farnborough Hill is an elaborate and unusual building, constructed in 1861. It underwent large-scale extensions in the 1930s and 1960s, giving each phase very distinctive features that span changing property styles, each with their own maintenance requirements.
- Over the last 20 years LSH’s Building Consultancy team has worked with the School to provide a range of building consultancy services, including organisation and management of annual external repairs and redecorations, disabled access advice and obtaining listed building consent for alterations and additions.
- In 1973 the building achieved Grade I listed status, which in turn has meant that specialist property advice and knowledge has been paramount in order to preserve and maintain original features.
- Throughout the working relationship LSH has built an in-depth knowledge of the property, delivering pragmatic and specialist building consultancy services to the School.
- In 2007, LSH oversaw the ‘new-build’ extension of the School’s swimming pool to provide improved showering and changing facilities (accessible to disabled users), as well as the redevelopment of the old changing rooms into new classrooms.
- Whilst retaining its original historic features and character, the building now offers modernised facilities that overcame the challenges of the Grade I listing, building regulations, Disability Discrimination Act and CDM regulations.
