LSH carries out building reinstatement valuations of UWE’s campuses
On behalf of University of the West of England (UWE), Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) was instructed to carry out building reinstatement valuations of all of UWE’s campuses, all based in Bristol (Frenchay, St. Matthias, Bower Ashton, Glenside). LSH recommends that clients fully assess their properties and have them properly re-valued every three to four years to ensure that their insurance is in line with current figures and those properties are not undervalued. University of the West of England (UWE)
- LSH was instructed to undertake an inspection and assess any changes to UWE’s portfolio since the last valuation was undertaken, also by LSH, in 2003. Assessing all buildings for form of construction and any special design/components, and valuing the buildings on a rebuilding cost basis for insurance purposes.
- LSH assessed approximately 80 buildings plus car parking areas and external landscaping. The properties ranged from early 18th Century buildings to modern student accommodation blocks.
- Site inspections of all buildings on all of the campuses required valuation as dictated by the client.
-
LSH was able to call upon its existing knowledge of the site and properties, enabling it to provide a very competitive fee quotation, having undertaken the same reinstatement analysis for the client in 2003.
- UWE required LSH to complete the valuations within one month of instruction, which was achieved.
- LSH has access to up-to-date technology for cost information services to assist with the assessments and valuations. This enabled LSH to produce an accurate, professional building reinstatement cost assessment report for insurance purposes.
- UWE benefitted from a single point of contact offered by LSH for all communications, minimising the client’s direct resource commitment.
