Student & placement opportunities
Are you a student looking to pursue a career in the commercial property industry? We offer a number of schemes to help you get the experience you need.
Placement year programme
We offer a placement year programme for university students who are looking to complete a year in the property industry as part of their degree or other higher education course.
We accept applications from students pursuing either of the following APC career pathways:
- Commercial Property Practice
- Building Surveying
- Planning Development and Consultancy
To qualify for our placement year programme you will be in the second year of a RICS-accredited degree course.
Placement year programme – APC training
All our placement year students undertake the first year of our Graduate Development Programme. This means that, as well as gaining invaluable on-the-job experience, you’ll get the support and training you need to complete the first year of your Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) qualification.

Lambert Smith Hampton is committed to offering work shadowing opportunities to students aged 16 and over who are looking to pursue a career in the property industry, or who want to find out more about what it’s like to be a Chartered Surveyor.
Are you a school leaver looking for an alternative to university?
We work in partnership with the Chartered Surveyor Training Trust (CSTT) to offer a number of surveying apprenticeships each year. All successful apprentices are employed on the basis of a two-year training contract and are required to work towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) which includes attending college one day a week. This qualification will also enable the apprentice to achieve Associate membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
